All eyes will be on the world’s best riders as they head to the Swedish capital city to tackle the fifth leg of the 2021 Longines Global Champions Tour series this weekend in Stockholm.

From June 18 to 20 June, these elite horses and riders will attend the LGCT of Stockholm at the City’s historic Olympic Stadium. The arena has a strong heritage in equestrian sport dating back over 100 years, including the Olympic Games in 1912 and 1956 and the World Equestrian Games in the summer of 1990.

Appropriately, spectators will see a host of Olympians in action at the world class venue this week, including five-time medallist Ludger Beerbaum (GER). Other big international names – many of whom have graced the Olympic stage – include Scott Brash (GBR), Pius Schwizer (SUI), Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS), Nayel Nassar (EGY), Denis Lynch (IRL), Marlon Zanotelli (BRA), Maikel van der Vleuten (NED), Leopold van Asten (NED), Geir Gulliksen (NOR), Ben Maher (GBR), Gregory Wathelet (BEL), and Daniel Deusser (GER).

In the overall 2021 LGCT rankings, former LGCT Grand Prix of Stockholm winner Peder Fredricson (SWE) will be in prime position to extend his championship lead on home soil.

Local favourites will give home fans plenty to cheer about with many of the top Swedish show jumpers in action this week. Henrik von Eckermann (SWE) will lead the charge alongside Malin Baryard-Johnsson (SWE) and Evelina Tovek (SWE) – all regulars on the Championship and looking for a win on home turf, but they’ll face tough opposition from many of the best international riders in the world, all vying for the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Stockholm presented by Fabege and win the highly sought after ticket to the Longines Global Champions Tour Super Grand Prix at the GC Prague Playoffs.

Alongside the main competitions of LGCT and GCL, Stockholm Horse Week will feature a thrilling festival of equestrian sport in close collaboration with the City of Stockholm to develop a sustainable world class event in the city. This year the focus lies on developing young talent, both horses and riders with the Lövsta Future Challenge International U25 Jumping and Lövsta Future Challenge Young Horse Final.

With plenty of home heroes to cheer for, fans will be able to witness a true battle of the world’s best, with top international and local riders competing for the win in Sweden.
