A debut and a victory: For the Australian Thomas McDermott, his very first start at the Longines Global Champions Tour began with a win right away. In the opening event over 1.45 m, in front of the picturesque backdrop of Schloss Sch\u00f6nbrunn in Vienna, McDermott delivered a top performance on the 12-year-old mare Shqely and secured the opening victory of the Vienna leg with a time of 67.65 seconds. Moreover, it was also his first competition appearance with this mare, which makes the result all the more impressive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201eThe scenery here in Vienna is simply incredible. It\u2019s my first Longines Global Champions Tour and actually my very first 5* victory \u2013 this fulfills a dream for me. The Dutch rider Sanne Thijssen came in second to McDermott's winning time: she rode Jopie Amazing JR without fault to the finish in 69.24 seconds, thus taking second place. The Austrian Christoph Obernauer thrilled the home crowd and secured third place for Kleon's Jana with a time of 70.30 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Dutch rider Jur Vrieling followed with VDL Mattias in fourth place, while the Austrian rider Bianca Babanitz secured another place for the host country with Dakato and finished fifth. The Swiss rider Nadja Peter Steiner completed the top six with Tailormade Fia Conthara.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
TOP POCKETED RESULTS for BRIANNE BEERBAUM<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Brianne Beerbaum also started the tournament off well. In the CSI2* Big Tour over 1.40m, the 16-year-old secured a strong third place on the saddle of the nine-year-old Holsteiner son of Zuccero HV, Zenzero.
