The wait was worth it, especially for the New York Empire riders Denis Lynch, Bertram Allen and Michael Pender: On Friday, Denis Lynch sat in Rome at the Global Champions League as a starter and had to return to the stables unceremoniously because the rain was too heavy. Today, without rain in the second attempt, he started with Ping Pong van de Lentamel (v. Emerald) as planned and remained faultless. After two rounds of zero scores, he also secured the victory on this 13th of 15 stages with his teammates – Michael Pender on Magdeslane Louis (v. Luidam) and Bertram Allen on Pacino Amiro (v. Paciono).

Only a slight spring error in the first round by Philipp Weishaupt on Oreo D.R. (v. Kannan) prevented Riesenbeck International from winning this time. Fellow rider Marco Kutscher was flawless twice with Pikeur Lemar NRW (v. Los Angeles). Philipp Weishaupt switched to the saddle of nine-year-old Callao L (v. Congress) from the breeding of Kai Ligges in the second round, and this time he also remained without a fall. The time would have been enough for the victory if there had not been the jumping error in the first round – so it was second place in Rome. But the superior overall lead in the Global Champions League was still secure. To this was added a fourth place with Callao L in the individual ranking and a seventh place for Marco Kutscher with Pikeur Lemar. The wait had therefore also paid off for Team Riesenbeck.

The Istanbul Warriors finished third in Rome, now just barely ahead of the New York Empire in the overall standings. Abdel Said contributed with two zeros, first on Wathnan Quaker Brimbelle Z (v. Quicksilver St Simeon), then on Wathnan Calvaro (v. Cascadello). Partner Simon Delestre had eight points in round one with Gatsby du Tillard (v. President), but then turned things around in round two: zero in the fastest time and thus the individual victory.
