Nothing more was at stake on Sunday at the Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in Lyon between Julien Epaillard and Richard Vogel. This is exactly where the new edition of The Horse Show, the English-language weekly show, begins. ClipMyHorse.TV, In it, Frederik de Backer takes a close look at the latest developments in the sport of ski jumping. The title of the show sums it up: “Splitting hairs”.

Emilie Conter as a guest
This time de Backer is skipping the phone calls and instead personally welcomes the Belgian rider Emilie Conter in the studio. The young rider from the stable Stephex has long established herself at the world top, not least with her victory in the CSI5* Grand Prix at the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington with her mare Portobella van de Fruitkorf. In the studio she brings the view from the saddle to the big issues of the weekend.

The year of Cloudio
One of these topics is Cloudio. For the 12-year-old Holsteiner son of Richard Vogel, it was an exceptional season: In Barcelona, the pair decided the final of the Longines League of Nations against Rodrigo Pessoa and Major Tom for themselves and thus secured Germany the victory. In Lyon, the world number one with Cloudio remained unbeaten in a final in which eight of the fourteen pairs remained without a fault, completing the race in 38.20 seconds without a single error and still having to be satisfied with second place. Epaillard and Le Coultre de Muze were one second faster with 38.17 seconds, while Swiss Edouard Schmitz followed with Gamin van’t Naastveldhof only eleven hundredths behind in third place. The Horse Show sheds light on what has made Cloudio one of the defining horses of this year.

French debutants and a dream weekend for Martin Fuchs
The home crowd in Lyon had reason to celebrate not only because of Epaillard. The show looks back at the French riders who celebrated a successful debut on the big stage in Lyon. In addition, de Backer focuses on Martin Fuchs’ dream weekend. The Swiss took over the 11-year-old Cornet Obolensky-son Fave d’Authuit from the Canadian Erynn Ballard only after the World Championships in Aachen, and with him immediately won the Equita Masters, a CSI5*-jumping competition over two rounds and 1.60 meters.

When the clock becomes the opponent
The Equita Masters in particular show how much the allowed time affected the weekend. None of the three best-placed pairs had a bogey, yet no one came out without making mistakes: Fuchs won with a time error of 52.82 seconds ahead of Penelope Leprevost with Hileklaire un Prince and Mark McAuley with Clooney van Spalbeek Z, who each collected three time errors. The Horse Show explores the question of what influence the allowed time had, and looks for the fractions of a second that ultimately decided the outcome, from the tight turn to the wild galloping leap.

The full analysis with Emilie Conter can be found in the current issue of the English-language ClipMyHorse.TV show The Horse Show titled “Splitting hairs”: https://watch.clipmyhorse.tv/THS-031126-SR.

… Read More

[1

post-104578","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-allgemein
["GET
