“These are certainly not the leftovers at the end of the season. They are very high-quality foals that make a strong impression on paper alone. We may have slightly more foals out of young mares than usual, but we also see that as a positive. We have foals out of Grand Prix mares, as well as no fewer than fifteen with a granddam at 1.50m-1.60m level. Almost all of the granddams and great-granddams have already produced Grand Prix horses.”
Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts can look back on a highly successful auction year and are confident they can continue that momentum on September 12 at Sentower Park. The auction will start slightly earlier than usual, at 7:30 p.m., due to the size of the collection.
Seven by United Touch S
Who will become the auction topper? That question is not so easy to answer. There are no fewer than seven chances that it could be a United Touch S. Cornet Obolensky and his son Comme il Faut are each represented by four foals in the auction. Heartbreaker and Catoki follow with three offspring each.
Dam jumped 1.70m GP
A truly unique opportunity is Elysian For Fun (Ermitage Kalone x For Pleasure). His dam Fit For Fun (1.70m Grand Prix) won more than two million euros in prize money under Luciana Diniz and gave the approved 1.60m Grand Prix stallion Camargo.
Another special prospect is Kashmir Flip de Prepinson Z (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Cardento) out of the 1.60m Grand Prix mare Flip’s Little Sparrow, a daughter of Olympic team silver medallist H&M Butterfly Flip.
Aligoté R-81 Z (Aganix du Seigneur x Zandor) is out of a 1.45m level showjumping mare and is a granddaughter of Jessica Kürten’s grey mare Bonita, who won team gold at the 2001 European Championships in Arnhem and is the dam of two 1.60m Grand Prix horses.
Emerthaga VDH Z (Emerald x Heartbreaker) out of the 1.60m Grand Prix mare Haertthago who achieved numerous successes with Leon Thijssen, is also likely to attract plenty of attention.
Impress-K van ’t Kattenheye, winner of two silver medals at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen, is represented by his strikingly coloured son Da Vinci van de Kruishoeve (dam’s sire Taran de la Pomme), a half-brother to Hickstead Derby winner Pjotr vd Kruishoeve.
From the family of Impress-K, Castor (Carambole x Vancouver d’Auvray) will also be offered. An eyecatcher not only because of his blue eye, but also as a half-brother to the successful 1.60m Grand Prix horse Jezebeau and with Utopia vd Donkhoeve (1.60m Grand Prix) as his granddam.
