It starts off well. Right at the start of his annual America tour, André Thieme took part in the Grand Prix of the CSI2* Split Rock Jumping Tour in Sarasota (Florida), which was worth $100,000. After a faultless round, Thieme entered the competition with the eleven-year-old Oldenburg gelding Conacco (by Conoglio x Chacco-Blue). Fifteen other starters also managed to do the same. In the end, the European champion secured fifth place after a fast round. The victory went to the Columbian Mark Bluman with Marilyn, ahead of Alberto Michan with Firewall (by Lexicon) and Jessica Mendoza with Dublin (by Cobra).
Thieme will ride in the Sunshine State for the next three months. The highlight of his US tour, at which he also has his Olympic and European Championship horse Chakaria, will always be the 1 million dollar Grand Prix in Ocala, which has been reduced to 500,000 dollar prize money this year.
