Call for applications: Tenders must include information about the venue of the tournament, the date, online registration details, the address of the organizer, the tournament management, the deadline for registration, the type of competition, the requirements, the ratings, the judging procedure, the eligibility of riders and horses, the performance categories, the awards and prizes, the amount of the entry and start fee, if applicable quarters, and stables, the prizes, the quality of the training facilities (grass, sand) and the preliminary schedule.

CHIO: Concours Hippique IInternational Officiel – an international equestrian sport event organized by the FEI (International Federation of Equestrian Sports). Each FEI member country is allowed to hold one CHIO per year. In Germany, it is the CHIO in Aachen.

FEI: The Fédération Équestre Internationale (International Equestrian Federation) is the international umbrella organization for equestrian sports with its headquarters in Lausanne (Switzerland).
Flags: The flags are arranged so that the rider has the red flag on the right and the white flag on the left. Barriers that are not part of the current competition are blocked with crossed red and white flags.
FN: The „German Equestrian Association“ (Fédération Équestre Nationale), based in Warendorf, is the umbrella organization for all riders, drivers, horsemen, and breeders in Germany.

Sign of the Glockenspiel: The bell or another acoustic signal is sounded once for the start to be released, once to continue the test after a break if an obstacle that was not correctly jumped has to be jumped again, and twice to be excluded from the test (e.g. after being disqualified, repeatedly refusing to jump, or after a fall).
IJRC: International Jumping Riders Club (International Club of Jumping Riders)
JUN: Junior division, age group up to 18 years old.
JR: Junior riders, age category up to 21 years.
Jump and Drive: Show jumping: Participants must first overcome a course on horseback. Next, a course with pylons on which easily removable tennis balls lie must be driven through in a car, a bike, or a quad. Falling bars while riding and falling balls while driving are added as penalty seconds to the time used. The fastest person in the course is the winner.
KL: Class

Late Entry Tournaments: They may only take place on one day and include a maximum of 8 tests.
LK: Performance class
LPO: The Performance Examination Regulations are, so to speak, the basic law, namely the comprehensive set of rules that was enacted by the German Equestrian Association e.V., the Federal Association for Horse Sports and Horse Breeding.
LV: State Association
Relief from marching: At very high temperatures, the judges can grant relief and the riders are allowed to enter the course without a jacket.
Deadline for submission: A deadline for registration must be set for each exam. Unless otherwise specified, the deadline is one hour before the start of the exam. Riders who have not started the exam must report immediately to the registration desk.
Reporting point: At the registration desk, the start registrations are taken, head numbers are issued, and many organizational questions are answered. Here, the starting lists are created, the results are published, and the prize money is paid out.

Course Director: Course managers design spring courses that are suitable for polo competitions based on their discretion. They are qualified experts and are also responsible for the condition of the obstacles.
Course sketch: For the guidance of the rider, a course sketch is displayed on the notice board at the registration desk about an hour before the start of the exam.
REI: Riders who turn 22 years old during the current calendar year.
Six bar: English for barrier jumping
Stollen: On firm and hard ground, very sharp and pointed spikes are usually inserted into the holes in the hoof boots. In soft and muddy terrain, on the other hand, wide and angular spikes are often used, which reduce the risk of slipping due to their shape. Don't forget: The plugs must be turned back in absolutely before the return transport.

Winner round/Knocking: In a jump with a penalty, only riders and horses with zero rounds enter the subsequent jump. In a winning round, a predetermined number of riders ride to win. It is therefore possible for riders to enter the winning round with a penalty, for example by a fall. However, the penalty point remains on the rider’s account and is added to the final result.
Full membership: To participate in national and international performance exams in Germany and abroad, a full membership in an association is required. The association must be a member of one of the FN-affiliated national associations.
Starting lineup: For the order in which a jumper starts, after the registration deadline, the letter for the first starter is determined. The rest then follows alphabetically. The horses’ names are the decisive factor. Riders with multiple starts in a LP are classified in such a way that between two starts at least eight other participants start – if possible.

Time allocation: About a week before the tournament, the registration office makes the timing details available online, including the starting order, the number of participants, and the responsible judges.
