In the past as well as today, many riders are asking the question: How high can a horse actually jump?
- In 1906, the Frenchman Capitaine Crousse overcame a height of 2.35 meters, which had not been reached before, with the horse „Conspirateur“.
- In 1938, the Italian cavalry officer Antonio Gutierrez achieved a height of 2.44 meters on „Osoppo“ in Rome.
- In 1949, the Chilean-born Capitano Alberto Larraguibel Morales set the bar even higher in his 15-year-old full-blooded Huaso in Vina del Mar, when he jumped a whopping 2.47 meters. This record has stood to this day.

For comparison:
- The current world record for high jump is held by Javier Sotomayor from Cuba with 2.45 meters and dates back to 1993.
- Carlo Thränhardt holds the German record in the high jump with 2.37 meters, which he has held since 1984.
- An untrained cow can jump up to 1.20 meters high.
