Three-year-old exception stallion Prince Eric is the highlight of the current SK Favorite auction

ADVERTISEMENT: The SK Favorite auction in October is truly something special. The three-year-old stallion Prince Eric, a son of the Olympic stallion Emerald van ’t Ruytershof from a daughter of Babbe van ’t Roosakker, shows enormous potential. „I was a fan of Prince Eric from the very beginning. I really like the offspring of Emerald van ’t Ruytershof, and in combination with such a strong pedigree, his pedigree immediately appealed to me,“ says Suus Kuyten, founder of the online auction concept SK Favorite. Bids start on Friday, October 2, and the auction ends on Monday, October 5, at 20:00.

„I am a big fan of the Emerald van ’t Ruytershof line,“ explains Suus Kuyten. „I appreciate her discretion, intelligence, and willingness to work. We bought Prince Eric as a foal, and aside from his pedigree, I particularly liked his strong build and his light-footed movement. He is very easy to work with, shows a lot of jumping power, and has the typical Emerald technique when jumping. For me, he has all the prerequisites to become a very exciting horse for the future.“

Grandson of Babbe van ’t Roosakker

This exceptional jumping talent combines two of the world's most successful broodlines. Prince Eric is a grandson of the Grand Prix mare Babbe van ’t Roosakker, who successfully competed at the start under Michel Hécart. His dam Destinée de la Roque is a sister of five international 1.50/1.60-metre jumping horses, including Giorgi van ’t Hagenhof, Geena van ’t Roosakker and Erco van ’t Roosakker. The grandmother Babbe van ’t Roosakker is in turn a half-sister to three top horses, including Ben Maher's multiple Grand Prix winner and European Championship medallist Cella. This outstanding Belgian performance line then continues through the influential Usha van ’t Roosakker.

World-class genes on both sides

Prince Eric is not only related to his motherline through numerous international showjumping horses, but also benefits from outstanding jumping genes on his father’s side. His father Emerald van ’t Ruytershof was an important member of the Dutch national team under Harrie Smolders and has exerted a great influence on breeding with offspring such as Igor, Imerald van ’t Voorhof, Mandato van de Neerheide and Nikka van de Bisschop. Suus Kuyten clearly recognizes the typical technique of Emerald van ’t Ruytershof in Prince Eric. His jumping technique, his natural jumping range, and his meticulousness show many of the qualities that she appreciates in the offspring of Emerald.

Another approach to auctions

With SK Favorite, Suus Kuyten deliberately pursues a different approach to horse auctions. Instead of presenting a large selection, each issue focuses on only one carefully selected horse. „The market has changed. Buyers are looking for quality all year round. With this concept, I can offer my customers something special in addition to the live auction in December,“ explains Kuyten.

Remember the date: December 15th

While SK Favorite offers carefully selected horses throughout the year, December brings another highlight for Suus Kuyten Horses. On Tuesday, December 15, the stables in Eemnes, the Netherlands, will open their doors for an exclusive live auction that is all about show horses. An evening where sport, quality, and atmosphere come together and a carefully selected collection of promising show horses takes center stage. More details about the selection and the evening will be announced shortly, but for now: mark the date.
