Jumping with style: Marcus Ehning wins the Queen’s Cup in Barcelona with Stargold, Kendra Brinkop fourth

On this Saturday, the meteorologists were also unusually the main players at the League of Nations final in Barcelona. Due to their weather warnings, the stadium was supposed to be cleared by 19:15 – and so the CSIO5* for the Queen’s Cup was changed in the entry and started at 17:30 instead of at 20:00.

Unimpressed by all the weather forecasts, Marcus Ehning and Stargold (v. Stakkato Gold) rode as twelfth starters and once again delivered a round like out of a textbook. Interrupted by a small, typical Stargold buckler in the middle and crowned at the end by a slightly more emphatic jumping off, it looked like a style competition for both – but in fact it was the fastest zero round of the day with 70.55 seconds. The competition didn’t let that go unchallenged. The second-placed rider, Nicolas Sers, had already used 71.83 seconds for his zero round with Komet des K Z (v. Kannan) as the fourth starter.

After being the best German on the day before with only two time errors in the two laps of the Grand Prix, Kendra Claricia Brinkop also pushed herself far forward in this jump competition for a total prize money of 56,800 euros: On Gatsby le Magnific (v. Action Breaker), she jumped in 73.06 seconds without any errors, placing fourth ahead of Laura Kraut with Carquilara PS (v. Caligula).

The other German Barcelona travelers had a break during this Saturday’s main event.
