For the Riesenbeck International team, next weekend marks a crucial stage in the Global Champions League. From October 22 to 24, the international ski jumping series will be hosted in Cairo, before the impressive backdrop of the Pyramids of Giza, where the team can already secure the overall victory for the 2026 season in advance. After finishing second in Rome, the Riesenbeck team leads the overall standings with 267 points and is 45 points ahead of the Istanbul Warriors in second place. New York Empire follows with 215 points in third place.
The starting position is promising: In the remaining two stages in Cairo and Rabat, a maximum of 30 points will be awarded for the stage victory. With this, Team Riesenbeck International has the chance to secure the title already in Egypt. After the stage in Cairo, the lead over the strongest rival must be more than 30 points, so that the Riesenbeck team in Rabat cannot be overtaken anymore. A sixth place or better next weekend would be enough to secure the early overall victory on their own, even if one of the strongest competitors wins the stage.
Even with a weaker result, early championship is possible, provided that the contenders leave enough points behind. At a seventh place, the Istanbul Warriors, for example, may only finish second at most, while New York Empire could even win. The Istanbul Warriors are the most important opponent in the title race. New York Empire is already 52 points behind Riesenbeck International and has a larger gap to make up.
With Christian Kukuk, Max Weishaupt and Marco Kutscher, Riesenbeck International travels to Cairo in a top-class team. After a successful season with several stage victories and podium finishes, the team wants to build on its previous achievements in Egypt and secure the early victory in the overall standings on its own merits.
„We have built a very good starting position for the entire season. Of course, we want to take advantage of the opportunity to perfect the title already this weekend in Cairo. To do that, we need to focus on our own performance and give our best as a team,“ says Team Manager Ludger Beerbaum.
