Belgian Mare Auction peaks at €87,000 for Ola Kala de Regor

The strong demand for well-bred showjumping mares was clearly demonstrated last Saturday evening, 17 January, during the Belgian Mare Auction. At this second edition of the auction, 21 of the 22 mares changed hands, both on site and online.

The auction, founded by Nico De Wilde and his son Marco De Wilde of the Belgian Stud De Wilde, took place at Loheky Stables in Knesselare. “A beautiful venue where many familiar faces came together. There was a great atmosphere. Most mares were sold on site, but there were also online sales to America, Brazil, England, Sweden, Slovenia, the Netherlands and Belgium. A very good result with strong yet realistic prices,” says Marco De Wilde.

The highlight of the auction was the twelve-year-old Ola Kala de Regor (Darco x Cento), a direct daughter of Centa de Muze and herself ranked at 1.45m level. She brought the top price of €87,000.

The ten-year-old Plots Princess (Plot Blue x Lord Z), bred out of Marcus Ehning’s famous Grand Prix mare Noltes Kuchengirl, was sold online to Slovenia for €48,000. The mare herself has competed at 1.50m level with Marcus Ehning.

Mares sold for €28,000 included Naughty Flip de Muze (Norton d’Eole out of the Olympic mare H&M Butterfly Flip) and Jakarta de Hus (Kannan x Locato), a half-sister to HH Conrad de Hus (1.60m Grand Prix).

Two in-foal mares were sold for €26,000: Comme Elle Faut de Carmel (Comme il Faut), the full sister of Comilfo Plus, and Nevada S (Calvados Z), the full sister of medal winner Nevados S with Gregory Wathelet.

The Belgian Mare Auction proved to be such a success that a third edition is planned for 2027.
