Previously, embryos auctioned at the Al Shira’aa Horse Show international arena had already been advertised for auction during the day, and it was primarily regular customers – who are well acquainted with investments in embryos – who made further purchases.
The auction began with the sale of three offspring of Al Shira’aa stallions, which brought in a total of €20,000. HH Sheikha Fatima Bint Hazza Al Nahyan of Al Shira’aa Stables donates the entire amount to the charitable organization Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund Charity.
J-Nius V.V. Z enjoys great popularity
The very first embryo was immediately sold to the Emirates for the top price of €52,000. Not Chacco-Blue, United Touch S or Emerald, but a descendant of the Appaloosa jumping horse J-Nius V. Z was in the spotlight. This foal is expected to be born around February 20 and is from the 1.60 m Grand Prix mare Isaura Ter Putte (Tinka’s Boy), the half-sister of Elvis Ter Putte (1.60 m Grand Prix).
The sale of the J-Nius son C-Bra van het Bokt to the Emirates for €402,000 had once caused a stir. As a result, the J-Nius V.V. Z by Emeralds‚ full sister Jenna van het Meulenhof achieved a price of €30,000 and was acquired by the Belgian Exclusive Stables of Paulien Schepers. Together with her mother, they invested locally in four embryos, including a United Touch S from the same dam as the top show jumper Impress-K van ‘t Kattenheye for €42,000.
With this sale, Gestüt ’t Kattenheye completed a successful evening and immediately purchased an embryo by phone: a Ermitage Kalone from a high-quality daughter of the famous Dubai du Cedre (1.65 m Grand Prix).
An Emerald from the 1.60 m Grand Prix mare Toveks Mary Lou, which earned more than 1.7 million euros with Henrik von Eckermann, also moved to the Belgian Exclusive Stables for 34,000 euros. The Balou du Reventon from the 1.60 m Grand Prix mare Coriana van Klapscheut was sold for the same amount.
Extensive range of products
The average price was only slightly below the record price of last year’s auction in the Emirates; the difference this year was that not all the embryos were sold.
„There could be several reasons for this. This year the auction took place on Friday and not on Saturday, which is quite early in the day for Europe, but we should not underestimate how much has already come onto the market. The supply of embryos from top-tier strains has increased enormously. Very good prices are still being paid, but only for something that is truly outstanding,“ analyzed Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts.
