Three German show jumpers mixed it up in the heats for the LGCT Grand Prix in Rabat, but the victory went to the first rider in the heats – Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli with the stallion Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze Z. The Swede made an early splash with a flawless time of 47.91 seconds. And the eight following pairs went all out to try and beat that time. While the speed was certainly there, it wasn’t flawless. The second best result was delivered by Denis Lynch with the 17-year-old Holsteiner Cordial (v. Casall) and a time of 48.02 seconds. Christian Ahlmann and his United Touch S-son Untouched LB were much faster with 46.24 seconds. The stallion jumped fantastically, smoothly and easily like a cat. But a net roller caused the two to slip to third place.
FREUD'S TEARS OF THE VICTORIOUS
„I haven’t won a big prize for a long time, so today’s victory really means a lot to me,“ the winner said, her cheeks filled with tears of joy. „It took a while for Calvino and I to build a good connection. He can be quite stubborn. But now he really fights in the course. I’m so proud of him,“ the rider praised her horse Iron Dames Calvino II de Nyze Z (v. Calvaro), which she has taken over from Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann.
Harry Allen and Edison de Hus (bred by Conrad) took fourth place ahead of Philipp Weishaupt and his 9-year-old Callao L (bred by Congress). The chestnut also showed his best side throughout the weekend in Rabat. Right behind them, Sophie Hinners and Iron Dames Singclair (bred by Singular LS la Silla) rank sixth.
The CSI5*-1.45m jumping event in the morning was actually won by Marcus Ehning with Baloubets Rose Dree Boeken (v. Baloubet du Rouet). Jörne Sprehe with Sprehe Hot Easy (v. Andiamo) came in second. Sophie Hinners and Event de L’Heriubs (v. Emir de Vy) jumped to fourth place.
