Another top-ranking result for Christian Kukuk and the ten-year-old HK Carrera (v. Carrera VDL): In the CSI5* Grand Prix Qualifier over 1.55m with a prize of 181,171 dollars at the Highlands Hudson Valley in Amenia (USA), the Olympic champion and his young hopeful jumped to third place. In the final, Kukuk had to take a lot of risks as the second of six pairs – and he did. A mistake on the final jump prevented a possible victory.
The most experienced of the Americans were Spencer Smith and Keenland. They were the only ones to remain error-free in the steeplechase. McLain Ward took second place on his First Lady. The pair also had a fall in the steeplechase, but were a hair faster than Kukuk.
After a top-three finish around three weeks ago in Williamsburg, this was another success for Kukuk with his new addition: In the spring, he had already taken over the brown HK Carrera from Torben Köhlbrandt and Kellie Allen.
Richard Vogel and Casallo were not in the race after a mistake in the round. For Rene Dittmer and Cody, there were 12 penalty points in the end.
