In May, the 21-year-old show jumper Marvin Jüngel, together with his outstanding mare Balou’s Erbin, enchanted the spectators in Hamburg-Klein Flottbek. A spectacular round in the show jumping competition catapulted the young and energetic duo to victory in the renowned 92nd German Show Jumping Derby presented by IDEE KAFFEE in Hamburg. Now the next big event is ahead, as from September 7 to 10 Marvin Jüngel will compete at the OWL Challenge in Paderborn.
There he meets a whole host of other Derby winners: Cassandra Orschel (POL), Holger Wulschner and Christian Glienewinkel. They join international greats such as the two-time European champion from 2005, Marco Kutscher, the Brazilian national team prize-winner Thiago Ribas Da Costa and the German championship rider Mario Stevens. Gerco Schröder (NED), Olympic silver medal winner and team European and World Champion, is also back on the starting line as a regular fixture. The impressive field in Paderborn is also complemented by top-class riders such as Lars Bak Andersen (DEN) and Willem Greve (NED), both multiple world champion and national team prize-winner. The Schulze Topphoff siblings, Marie and Philipp, will also be competing again. In addition, the winning pair of last year, Finja Bormann and A Crazy Son of Lavina, will be back. The list of international riders is rounded out by participants from Sweden, Poland, Syria, Korea, Great Britain, Kuwait, Portugal, Spain and the United Arab Emirates. In total, about ten nations will take to the starting line. Local favorites like Tim Rieskamp-Goedeking and Sebastian Holtgräve-Osthues are not to be missed, as they bring their passion to the atmosphere at the Paderborn shooting range.
In addition to the established riders, the OWL Challenge will also focus on over 40 aspiring up-and-coming riders. On the one hand, the youngest riders will be given the stage in the TuPaRe Pony-Führzügel-Trophy, and on the other hand, talented pony riders will take to the start in the Hagedorn Pony Trophy Tour Youngster. Annually, the atmosphere on the shooting range reaches a peak on Saturday evening in the regional tour, when the Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport – Team Trophy is ridden. In this competition, teams from the regional associations compete against each other – and the teams bring loud support.
From September 7 to 10, 2023, visitors to the magnificent Paderborn Shooting Ground can expect a unique and varied program. Sports highlights include the InPro electric championship on Saturday afternoon and the Great Prize of OWL presented by WBI Warner Bau- und Industriemaschinen GmbH on Sunday.
