He was very close to achieving his goal of defending his title: Daniel Deusser and his very ambitious new addition Navarro from the Eelshof (v. Jappelloup vh Dauwhof) were in pole position in the Grand Prix Qualifier over 1.55m in Verona with a time of 63.60 seconds. Just behind Deusser, who had won the competition with Otello de Guldenboom (v. Tobago Z) in 2025, Richard Vogel placed with the only eight-year-old Holsteiner Cherano (v. Cascadello). The two had completed the course without a single fault in 65.96 seconds.
But it wasn’t to be with the German double victory: Team world champion Deusser, who had only taken over the 13-year-old stallion from Rik Hemeryck in the summer, was eventually overtaken twice. First, the winner of the World Cup in Lyon, Julien Epaillard, set the standard in Italy that evening. With his own-bred Donatello d’Auge (v. Jarnac), the Frenchman took the lead with a time of 62.53 seconds and never let it slip away. A little later, Simon Delestre also tried to beat his compatriot on the saddle of Chacco-Blue’s daughter Crazy Daisy, who was brought into the sport by Alexa Stais among others. But the time of 63.12 seconds was „only“ good enough for second place.
Daniel Deusser was pleased to see another top-ranking result with his Navarro van het Eelshof. Only last weekend, Double D and the Brown Horse jumped to sixth place at the Equita Masters in Lyon. These good results give hope for an exciting future together.
Hansi Dreher also managed to place well with his Holsteiner horse Elysium (v. VDL Zirocco Blue) in 10th place after a flawless round.
