It was also a strong field in terms of numbers that took to the starting line on Friday in the main event of the Andalucía Tour: 65 rider-horse pairs competed in Vejer de la Frontera as competitors for the Yeti Trophy, a CSI4* obstacle course over 1.50m, with a total prize money of more than 28,000 euros at stake.
Hannes Ahlmann secured the second largest share of the prize money. With his nine-year-old hope, Madness (v. Kannan), he was faultless and quickly reached the finish line – only one was faster: Alvaro Gonzalez De Zarate Fernandez on Casa Diva PS (v. Casallco), a horse bred by Paul Schockemöhle and a successful offspring of Lewitzer.
In fourth place followed Hannes Ahlmann's German teammate David Will. He had saddled the ten-year-old Maverick (by Mosito vh Hellehof) and it took him a good one second longer to reach the finish line for his zero round.
It was David Wills' second top-three finish that day. Because in the morning he had already achieved third place in the CSI4* over 1.40m with Cayenne (v. Stolzenberg), just behind Tom Schewe on Jacarta Equigenne (v. Lord Z). The victory in this jump had gone to France, with Mathieu Michot on Gazelle de Coquerie (v. Opium de Coquerie).
