The title defense was successful: after 2025, Ireland also won the Nations Cup in Vejer de la Frontera this year. Francis Derwin with Flexi K (v. Flex A Bill), Jessica Burke with Billy Fern (v. Chacoon Blue), Dermott Lennon with Kinmar Right on Time (v. Aganix du Seigneur) and Tom Wachmann with Do It Easy (v. Vigo Cece) came out of the first round as second with four points, and no points were added in the second round.
The Americans came in second ahead of the Italian team, which had completed Round One as the leading team with only two time errors.
Team Germany, which was still in fifth place after the first round, finished in eighth place. Starter Hannes Ahlmann had come in with four points in the opening round with Madness (v. Kannan), but in the second round it was eight points – both of which were added to the score in the Streicher result category. Jens Baackmann delivered the only zero for Team Germany in round one with Lorenz (v. Livello) – in round two a pole fell off him at the takeoff of the two-time winner. For Jens Wawrauschek and Mava S (v. Messenger), it was the same as for last-place finisher David Will and Maverick (v. Mosito vh Hellehof) in each of the two rounds, with a spring error being added to the German score.
For team manager Ralf Runge, eighth place was not a „world-ending“ result but rather a „learning effect“: „Everyone now knows where the weaknesses are and where they need to improve. The mistakes were all explainable. For Jens Wawrauschek it was his first national title; he made a mistake in every round. That’s not a bad thing. David Wills“ horse Maverick is really, really good, but he also has a bit of a green tinge to him. And with Hannes Ahlmann and Madness, maybe a little bit of the air got out in the end,” the team manager summed it up to spring-reiter.de.
