At 8:30 a.m., the starting bell rang to welcome the crowd on the giant pitch in Riesenbek: Ludgers Welcome Class, a CSI5* two-phase show jumping competition, opened with David Will on Zinedream (v. Zinedine) – the same place where he became European vice-champion with Team Germany three years ago. As the fifth rider, Marco Kutscher on Karajan (v. Kannan) achieved the first double zero. But the real showpiece of the day was once again Laura Kraut: as the 15th rider, she galloped across the finish line exactly 30 seconds after the start without a single fault on Bisquetta (v. Bisquet Balou C) and was thus the winner in the end.
The previous best time had been set by Jerome Guery, who finished in 31.87 seconds on Careca LS Elite (v. Carusso LS La Silla), which meant third place. Shortly after Laura Kraut, Hansi Dreher used Vestmalle des Cotis (v. Baloubet du Rouet) only half a second longer than the winner and thus opened his Riesenbeck weekend as second place. Jörne Sprehe finished fourth on Sprehe Hot Easy (v. Andiamo).
