Marlon Modolo Zanotelli and the ten-year-old mare Charly Heart (v. Cornet Obolensky) secured victory in the Grand Prix in St. Tropez with two flawless rounds. The Brazilian rider and the chestnut mare, who was once brought into the sport by Jana Wargers, prevailed with a fast and flawless time of 43.30 seconds against the Irishman Marc McAuley and Rossi vd Heffinck (v. Diamant de Semilly). The pair had needed 44.85 seconds for the course in round two. The Brazilian and the Irishman were then the only ones to remain flawless over two rounds. Third place was secured by the 2022 world champions, Henrik von Eckermann and his King Edward (v. Edward), who is finding his old form after a long break. The pair had only two time errors in round one.
The eleven best pairs from Round One were eligible to compete in Round Two. This included Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and her nine-year-old Mecklenburger Van Tastic (v. Van Halen). The giant jumping fox came out of the course without a fault, but in Round One he finished with two time errors. In Round Two, a pole fell and the German pair finished in tenth place.
Richad Vogel and Gangster Montdesir (by Kannan) and Marcus Ehning with Priam du Roset (by Plot Blue) and one each were unable to place in the first round.
On Sunday, the final stage of the Longines League of Nations will take place, with the Nations Cup as the highlight ahead of the final in Barcelona.
