The Holsteiner stallions are returning to the Holsteiner Hall – tomorrow, Thursday, February 9, 2023, the Holsteiner Week begins in Neumünster with a stallion breeding competition, auction and presentation of association stallions.
67 three-year-old stallions travel to the Holsten Halles with their breeders, trainers, and owners to compete for the coveted title of Best of Breed. Whether the commission releases them as winners after three days of strict judging is decided on Thursday, the first positive impression in the three-cornered course must be left by 10:30 a.m. The event day on Saturday is traditionally dedicated entirely to the freestyle and jumping competitions, before all the competitors once again take to the Holsten Halles track on Saturday morning at 09:30. This time, not only the hearts of all those involved will be lifted, but also those of the spectators: Which stallions will be crowned Best of Breed? Who will also be awarded a prize? And who will be crowned Best Stallion of the Year 2023? On Saturday, February 11, Zuchtleiter Stephan Haarhoff and the commission will give their answers to these questions. „I’m curious to see how the stallions have developed since the pre-selection at the end of November,“ said Haarhoff. „It’s highly interesting to see how they benefit from the later calving time.“ The registered and unregistered stallions that will be sold will be handed over to new owners on Saturday afternoon during the auction in hybrid format.
The Holstein stallion breeding competition is framed by a varied and entertaining program: On Friday evening (from 18:00) and on Sunday afternoon (from 15:30), there will be jumping competitions with qualification for the VR Classics. After the auction on Saturday, the century stallion and audience favorite Casall will make the honor of taking the stage and from 20:00 onwards, at the breeder party, all those who are considered friends of the Holstein horse will have a reason to celebrate. The final of the Holstein Week will be marked by the traditional association stallion presentation on Sunday, February 12, 2023: Managing Director Sebastian Rohde and his team will travel with around 25 stallions from Elmshorn early in the breeding season.
