At the Rolex Grand Prix in La Baule last Sunday, he caused a few moments of panic: the Olympic champion Explosion W (by Chacco-Blue) had stumbled on the course after the fifth jump and had to be carried off. The show jumping event was suspended for around 20 minutes.
Now his rider, Ben Maher, has spoken out: „Unfortunately, Explosion sustained a soft-tissue injury on the show jumping course at La Baule. He is now back with us at home in the stables and is doing well so far.“
Ben Maher has expressed his gratitude for the swift and professional assistance provided on site and for the many messages regarding Explosion: „I’ll keep you updated on how Explosion’s recovery is progressing.“
The 14-year-old chestnut gelding had won a gold medal in the individual event at the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games, with Ben Maher in the saddle. After a lengthy break, he made a successful return to the big stage in May with a second-place finish in the Rolex Grand Prix at Windsor.
