It was not until June that Richard Vogel took over the reins of the eight-year-old Diatasio (v.Diaron Old) from Marvin Jüngel; a month later they then competed at a national tournament in Biblis and won the S*-jumping over 1.40m. This Saturday it was time for the first CSI2* Grand Prix over 1.45m in Greenwich, USA. And once again it was a Gold ribbon. Eight pairs had secured their ticket to the competition after flawless rounds. After only 36.74 seconds, the world number one and his young hope finished without fault; the second place was taken by McKayla Langmeier and Sans Doute, who took 37.49 seconds in the jumping competition.
In the final highlight of the weekend, the CSI5* Grand Prix over 1.60m, worth $340,000, there was no German participation. Richard Vogel had two attempts with Quizas van’t Hulsbos as the last starter in the course. Rene Dittmer and his Casall son Cody fared better. The two secured a place in the prize money with four penalty points, still in tenth place.
The victory with the only double-zero went to Daniel Bluman aboard Corbie V.V.. Second place was taken by the world ranking second Kent Farrington with Descartes SR ahead of McLain Ward and Lestro vd Valckenborg, who both made a mistake in the final run.
