In the end, he did what he does best: ride so quickly and flawlessly in the steeplechase that the competition is left behind. In the final, Richard Vogel won the U25 series in Wellington on Looping Luna (by Lord Fauntleroy) and secured the $16,500 prize money.
Eleven of the 29 starters had completed the course without any errors, qualifying them for the jump competition at the Palm Beach International Equestrian Center. One came within one and a half seconds of the winner and finished second, Carlos Hank Guerreiro on H5 Chacco-San (v. Chacco-Blue). One was even one tick faster, but lost a pole during the chase for the fastest time: Francisco Goyoaga Mollet slipped with Icarus (v. Douglas), which until a year and a half ago was ridden by Marlon Modolo Zanotelli, to sixth place.
