These are Teike Carstensen’s top tips for horse enthusiasts who may be planning their first visit to the VR CLASSICS Neumünster from February 15th to 18th 2024. Teike Carstensen is an expert in this field, after all, the successful young rider from Sollwittfeld herself has been competing in the Holstenhallen since she was a pony. Her family has even been involved for the third generation. Champion rider Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann also celebrated her first Neumünster victory as a 13-year-old on a pony and recently crowned her long-running success story with the title win in the BEMER Riders Tour Finale 2023. For these two riders, the VR CLASSICS Neumünster is just as indispensable an annual highlight as for equestrian champion Ingrid Klimke or jumping rider Philip Rüping.
Kult Tournament of Schleswig-Holstein
There are tournaments and there are cult tournaments. The latter category includes the VR CLASSICS Neumünster. For more than 70 years, this most famous and traditional event in northern Germany has attracted people and horses from all over Europe and the rest of the world. For four days, the prize money is no less than 280,000 euros, the honor of winning one of the greatest classics, or the title in the prestigious BEMER Riders Tour. But it is also all about winning the praise and applause of the spectators and standing on the same stage with the greats of the sport. In the Holstenhallen, the best amateur riders from Schleswig-Holstein meet stars such as Christian Ahlmann, Jur Vrieling, Jessica von Bredow-Werndl or Isabell Werth. From international show jumping to the FEI Dressage World CupTM qualification to the championships of the horse city of Neumünster, the Team Trophy Final or the Heartbeat Final of the Kreisreiterbunds, everything is on offer. The show by the Schleswig-Holsteinian Equestrian Clubs and the lifestyle exhibition are the icing on the cake of a great tournament.
