Henrik von Eckermann prevents Swiss doubles victory in Oslo – Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann is the best German

He literally took the field from behind: Henrik von Eckermann and his ten-year-old mare Qasirah van de Reistenhoek (v. Emerald) came in last of 39 pairs in the Oslo course. In the main event of the day over 1.55m at the Agria Oslo Horse Show, the winner received a prize money of 33,875 euros. Until then, Steve Guerdat was in the lead with the nine-year-old stallion Hadj de Bliniere (v. Carpe Diem JF Champblanc) and a time of 33.13 seconds. The Swiss rider had pushed his colleague Martin Fuchs off the pole position on Lorde (v. Clyde LVB Z). But even Guerdat could not hold on to the lead. Because Henrik von Eckermann, spurred on by the crowd, galloped through the course in the tightest lines and was finally faultless after only 32.56 seconds at the finish. That was the deserved victory and second place for Guerdat ahead of Martin Fuchs.

After flawless rounds, 14 pairs qualified for the final. The first to complete the course was the Belgian Gregory Whatelet with Double Jeu d’Honvault (v. Kannan). However, he received 12 penalty points in the final, so he narrowly missed out on the final ranking. The best German of the evening in Norway fared better: Janne Friederike Meyer-Zimmermann and her 11-year-old Colestus son Cellagon Cascais remained flawless in both rounds and placed 9th.

Today at 15:30, the first World Cup stage of the Western European League is scheduled in Oslo.
